Big girl

We're celebrating Madeline's first week in big-girl panties! We're very proud of her, and more importantly, she's very proud of herself!

Wedding flowers

Grace told me today that she wanted to have white blooms when she gets married. I told her when she's ready to get married, I'll get her white blooms. This started a little discussion between Grace and Madeline about where they can and can't pick the white crepe myrtle blooms they want for their weddings. I told them I thought this was all a little early...first they had to be grown up to get married, and second, they needed to meet someone they loved so much that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with. Grace immediately said, "Well, Mom, I already love Daddy...I'm going to marry him!"

Father's Day

To celebrate Father's Day we went to Texas Motor Speedway and watched Sam drive 10 laps at 150 mph in a NASCAR stockcar. The girls and I had a blast cheering him on, and if course, Sam had a great time. Before we left, we were offered a ride around the track a few times too.

Swing set

Our new swing set has already given us countless hours of fun. For some reason, Grace and Madeline start cracking each other up when they swing together. Until the cooler weather gets here, Charlotte still has to watch from her swing on the shaded porch.

10 months

How is Charlotte growing and changing so fast? She crawls all over the house, and will follow us everywhere. She pulls up very quickly and can stand on her own for a second or two, which keeps me on my toes because she's really good at reaching and pulling down her sisters books, crayons, or play doh. She's still a great eater and sleeper, and now has the sweetest brown curls in her hair. She's very ticklish and cracks up when her sisters are being silly. She loves to give kisses and clap her hands. She babbles a lot of "ma-ma"s and "ba-ba"s and Grace has taught her to wave bye-bye!

Donuts

Grace and Madeline haven't had donuts since just after Charlotte was born, when Sam would take them out of the house so I could get a morning nap. This weekend, Grace chose chocolate glazed with sprinkles.
Madeline chose a chocolate glazed donut, but wanted another after just eating the chocolate off the top. Sam, being wrapped around her finger, was happy to get her another. This is her watching him buy her second donut and then giving him the smile that keeps him wrapped around her finger.

Splash park

We went to a splash park a few minutes from our house today since our regular park is too hot.

After hanging outside a group of boys, Grace was finally invited to play freeze tag. I was happy when she later met a little girl her age and was able to play with her.
Charlotte snacked in the stroller the entire time.

Peter Pan

I took this picture with my camera last month and forgot to blog about it...I took Grace to her first musical! Peter Pan was playing at the children's theater, and despite not quite being healed from a week with a high fever from Adeno virus, she enjoyed it. I thought she might be a little nervous being so close to Captain Hook, but it was the crocodile that she was worried about.

Sparkle power

Grace and Madeline were playing in their rooms together, but I went to check on them when I heard a lot of water running in their bathroom. They were each at a sink washing all their My Little Ponies. Grace told me they were making them clean to give them sparkle power.

Ice cream stop

I used to LOVE hearing the sound of the ice cream truck as a kid, but so far this summer it's been making me cringe. Because the girls are so young, and Sam and I need a few hours alone each day, they each go to bed by 7:30...which is exactly when the ice cream man cruises our neighborhood and chooses to stop at OUR HOUSE, where I've seen 20 people lined up for ice cream as the classic music plays. This picture was taken from Charlotte's bedroom window this week.

Daydreamer

Madeline is getting to the age where she is really thinking for herself. She knows exactly what she wants and doesn't have a problem going off and doing her own thing, even if it's separate from the rest of the family. I've been catching her daydreaming lately...of course, the moment passes quickly.
