April Fool's dinner

Thomas the Train

We went to see Thomas today at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. After a 30 minute train ride, the girls did some crafts and ate corn dogs before Madeline and Charlotte were traumatized by Sir Topham Hatt.

Longhorn Cavern

While we were on our camping trip we toured Longhorn Cavern, outside of Marble Falls. We worked our way 3/4 of a mile down into the 7-mile cavern and the girls got close to 2 hibernating bats.

Black Rock

We took the girls camping for the first time at Black Rock Park on Lake Buchanan. Our tent site was next to their cousins (Emilee, Samantha, and Jesse) and a short walk to their second cousins (Juliana, Colton, and Sydney). Despite the constant wind, sticker burrs and thorns, we had all the usual things that make camping so much fun...warm afternoons, shared food on the grill and Coleman stove, s'mores and late evening songs with a guitar.
As Sam packed our sleeping bags and tent the day we left, I sat at our picnic table while the tired girls finished their lunch. Grace randomly began singing "Kumbaya."

Butterfly House

The girls met a few friends at the Texas Discovery Gardens this week. Madeline was happy to wander around and look, but I was constantly telling Grace to stop trying to catch the butterflies and Charlotte not to pick the orchids.

Fossil Rim

We took Lovie to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, since we had so much fun there last September. The girls were much braver feeding the animals this time, and we all have funny memories with Lovie there...who was not so brave with the emus and ostriches.
